Daunted by the idea of writing a memoir? Don’t worry. A memoir is not an autobiography, but a collection of memories or reminiscences and your reflections about them. It can be a specific event, a particular time period, perhaps a career, or a relationship. Maybe you want to pass on favorite recipes to your children. Your memories of the family who created and loved them is a memoir. Have a box of old photos? Don’t limit yourself to captions; tell the stories of your experiences with the people in the photos. Even those scrapbooks of your travels can springboard into an adventure memoir. Piece any of these together with theme, narrative, and reflections and you have a memoir.
Many memoirs don’t get written because the writer thinks they have “nothing to write about” or no one would be interested. But they’d be wrong on both counts. Ron Rozelle’s two-day workshop will help the writer craft memoir that conveys insight and understanding, and be entertaining, as well. He’ll cover research, planning, and story-telling techniques. For those interested in publishing, he’ll touch on query letters to agents or publishers. There’ll be plenty of time to receive gentle feedback on your writing and be inspired by others’ ideas.
Whether family and friends or an audience of strangers, your life has something readers will enjoy. So don’t hesitate any longer. Let Ron Rozelle show you how to tell your story.
