David R. Smith is a retired FBI special agent with decades of experience. He will share with us true, exciting, sometimes dangerous, often times hilarious stories of his unique experiences as a special agent making a difference in our country. He will also speak on the less exciting, but equally important topic of the unique role and authority of the FBI in law enforcement.
 
After eight years as an Airborne Ranger in the US Army, David began his career as an FBI Special Agent investigating various violations of federal law, including bank robberies, kidnappings, domestic terrorism, and the pursuit of fugitives from justice. He worked numerous well-known cases, including the trial and conviction of organized crime boss John Gotti in 1982; the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993; the TWA flight #800 explosion over Long Island Sound in 1996; and the 9-11 international terrorist attack on the United States in 2001.
 
David and his wife now live a well-deserved quiet life in nearby Round Top where they own and operate Cottonseed Trading Company and Antiques.
