THE EVOLUTION OF RURAL AMERICA Presenter: Jennifer Eckermann, Tourism and Marketing Director, City of Brenham
Jennifer Eckermann
Lifetime Learning’s November luncheon features Jennifer Eckermann discussing Museum on Main Street’s Crossroads: Change in Rural America. This traveling exhibit from the prestigious Smithsonian Museum explores the evolving nature of rural communities and their impact on shaping America’s future.
More than 90% of U.S. land is rural; however, less than 20% of Americans live in a rural area, down from 40% in 1900. Revitalizing rural America matters; for it is our primary source for food, fuel, fiber, and many critical natural resources. It is also home to treasured landscapes, thousands of wildlife species, and ecosystems upon which all life depends. Change is inevitable; managing that change is crucial. Just as we depend on rural America, the success of rural America depends on all of us.
Join us for lunch and learning on November 8th, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at The Cannery, 314 E. Alamo, Brenham. To save your seat, register by November 1st.
